The run-up to the Main Event at the WSOP Tour presently being held at the Choctaw Resort and Casino in Oklahoma is heating up nicely, it has been claimed.
According to WSOP, the ring event held at the casino resulted in a first place finish for David Clark, a 32-year-old poker player from Dallas, who took home $50,921 for his three days work.
Clark came on to the final table with 1.1 million in chips and seventh overall, but put together some strong hands to take the win and take an early lead in the Choctaw series points race.
The Main Event is due to start on January 22nd and the WSOP is holding 50 minor tournaments in the run-up to the big day.
Meanwhile, the ongoing PokerStars Caribbean Adventure event broke i8ts own record earlier this week for its highest attendance to date with 1,560 entrants - 31 more than in 2010.
After Day 2 of the tournament, Team PokerStars professional Adam Geyer is leading the pack with 909,000 chips.
