Poker bill 'could boost tax revenues'

The passing of a poker bill in California could help the state raise tax revenues, lobbyists in favor of the legislation have claimed.
An unnamed sponsor is set to put the contentious poker-only bill to the the California legislative council within the next 48 hours with the goal being having the legislation passed into law by California State Governor Jerry Brown by March 30th 2011, eGamingReview reports.
"Experts have said that estimated revenue for the state in the first full year of operations would be $300 million, increasing annually as the system matures," former California Online Poker Association spokesman Patrick Dorinson noted in a blog post for eGaming Review.
Meanwhile, Card Player recently reported the top payouts for some of the most prestigious tournaments to be held last week.
The publication revealed that HE77_Razor who took home $270,358.82 after winning PokerStars' Sunday Millions event, while Eric 'SHEETSWORLD' Haber bagged $37,939.46 for his win in the UB - $200,000 Guarantee.
