The launch of a casino in Cleveland is dependent on securing an operator for the project, one developer has claimed.
Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan Gilbert stated that he expects to make an announcement on the issue within the next month or two and disclosed his organisation has been looking at gambling establishments across the US to find a suitable candidate, the Plain Dealer reports.
Talking to attendees at a Corporate Club luncheon at Landerhaven, he said: "Since November, we've been to Las Vegas, Missouri, Louisiana and Florida, looking at casinos [and] operations."
Mr Gilbert, answering a question from one of the 700 delegates in attendance, noted that he is not against the idea of setting up a temporary gaming venue.
If this were to go ahead, he added, it would be located in the designated casino district allocated by Ohio voters in November 2009.
Earlier this month, the relocation of a Penn National Gaming casino in the state moved one step closer as the issue was placed on the May 4th primary ballot.
