A gambler based in Iowa will not receive a jackpot payout from the Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona because he was banned from the venue, it has emerged.
According to Casino Gambling Web, Troy Blackford was barred almost a decade before he stepped back into the establishment in 2006 and promptly won $9,387.
However, he has been told by the Supreme Court that he will not be receiving the money after the case went through the legal system for a number of years.
The gaming enthusiast appealed when the Polk County district court ruled in favour of the casino, with the Iowa Court of Appeals then reversing the decision.
Mr Blackford had been originally prevented from gambling there after hitting and damaging one of the slot machines, for which he pleaded guilty and paid a fine.
Prairie Meadows opened in 1989 and generates $435 million to the local community for social and educational causes.
