Dodge City casinos 'likely to hit targets'

2010-02-15 12:41:34

A new gambling establishment in Dodge City, Kansas is looking likely to hit targets in its first year of operation, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Topeka Capital-Journal, James Carlson noted that the Boot Hill Casino & Resort is set to generate $39.7 million over the course of the 12 months since opening on December 15th.

The venue had already made $5.1 million by January 31st and executive director of the Kansas Lottery Ed Van Petten said "things are going well".

Mr Carlson noted that the game room already employs 260 people and has proposals in place to take on 20 more staff members soon.

The 20,000 sq ft structure has 584 slot machines, ten blackjack and poker tables, a craps game and a roulette wheel.

Located on Highway 50, Boot Hill Casino & Resort is the first state-owned and operated casino in Kansas and runs 24 hours a day.
