Oklahoma casino to be located in Ramona

2010-02-05 07:28:20

A new casino is set to launch in Ramona, Oklahoma, with the establishment's owners claiming it will boost employment opportunities in the region.

David Stewart, chief executive officer of Cherokee Nation Entertainment, said the primary aim of the company is to "create good-paying, stable jobs" in the local community, Indian Country Today reports.

He remarked: "We have proven that our gaming operations are an asset to the communities in which we reside."

According to Mr Stewart, the residents of Ramona have recognised this and are happy to allow the venue to be constructed.

Over 200 electronic games and a range of concession-type food and beverage facilities are set to be available upon the initial opening.

"We are starting site work immediately," Mr Stewart continued, adding that it is expected to be completed in the summer.

Job creation was recently touted as one advantage of the launch of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, with the gambling establishment seeking 500 new employees.
