Plans are in place for a new casino to be built in Massachusetts, it has emerged.
According to PokerStrategy.com, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority is awaiting approval before pressing ahead.
The venue is to be situated in the town of Palmer, in the western area of the state, with the portal noting that the resort would include a 600-room hotel.
Around 5,500 jobs are expected to be created if the casino is built - both directly and indirectly - along with more than 1,000 construction jobs.
The Mohegan Authority has forecast between $475 million and $525 million to be generated each year, with chief operating officer Jeffrey Hartmann being quoted as saying it would attract guests from New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Earlier this week, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi revealed that its FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan, is to open in August of this year.
