August date for Michigan casino opening

2009-05-19 17:04:36

A new casino is set to open in Michigan this summer, it has been confirmed.

Laura Spurr, chair of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, revealed that an August date has been set for the FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek.

The venue is expected to feature a 107,000 sq ft gaming area, with a live poker room and bingo room in addition to its 78 table games and 2,680 slot machines.

General manager of the casino stated that "first-class dining and entertainment" will also be on offer, with future guests already being offered the chance to sign up for the venue's reward club.

Ms Spurr added: "Our tribal members, the local community and our new team members have all been looking forward to opening the doors. The project is right on schedule and now the countdown has begun."

Last month, Four Winds Casino Resort announced that residents of Benton Harbor, Michigan are now being provided with a shuttle bus to its site.
