Century Casinos records profit decline

2009-05-13 16:03:49

A decline in gaming in Colorado has been cited as one of the reasons Century Casinos has experienced a fall in revenue.

The company revealed that its net operating revenue for the first quarter was down 11 per cent compared to the same period in 2008, at just under $12 million.

In a statement, the company revealed that the Womacks site has experienced a loss in market share in the Cripple Creek area of Colorado.

But it added that the Century Casino and Hotel in Central City has suffered due to an overall drop in gaming.

Meanwhile, the Century Casino and Hotel site in Edmonton saw a 14 per cent decline in revenue in terms of US dollars, but this translated to a seven per cent increase in the local currency.

Recent figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board revealed that the state's seven casinos experienced a 13.76 per cent rise in revenue from slot machines last month.
