Casino resort proposed for Sumner County

2009-05-06 14:09:55

Lakes Entertainment has announced that it has submitted a proposal to build a casino resort in Kansas.

The company presented its project outline for endorsement by the Sumner County Board of County Commissioners, following the submission of an application for a license last month.

If approved, Lakes Entertainment intends to invest $265 million in the development, with over 1,700 jobs potentially being created in the Sumner County area.

President and chief financial officer of the firm Tim Cope explained that 2,000 slot machines, 60 table games, a poker room and restaurants are planned for the resort.

"Phase two of the development could include a hotel and entertainment center, child care facility and other market driven amenities," he added.

Last week, MGM Mirage and Dubai World revealed that they had reached agreement over the CityCenter casino complex in Las Vegas and it is now due to be opened later this year.
