There is still demand for slot machines that pay out with coins in the US, a casino manager has told the Associated Press.
While the majority of casino slot terminals now give people their winnings via vouchers or put credit on to a card, there are people who prefer the old-fashioned sound of coins dropping down into trays, said Mike Young of the Skyline Restaurant and Casino in Henderson, Nevada.
Referring to how his venue offers more than 200 coin slots out of 420, he remarked: "It fills a niche, particularly for the older player.
"They just love the coins. They like to get their hands dirty
they like to hear the money drop into the trays."
His comments were made as Resorts Atlantic City, Atlantic City's oldest casino, decided to bring back coin machines.
On its official website, the resort states that its mandate is to always put players first.
It currently has more than 2,500 slot machines, from the newest through to classics such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
