Online casinos have a major advantage over their land-based counterparts from a security standpoint, it has been suggested.
Remote Gambling Association director of business Brian Wright stated that there is little chance of somebody being able to successfully use a card counting program while playing blackjack on the internet because of how sophisticated the security systems are.
"The security systems, audit trails and software protections are so advanced that card counter infiltration is almost impossible," he remarked.
Mr Wright was responding to a question about whether card counting applications that have been designed for the iPhone could be modified for use in online gaming.
The Remote Gambling Association represents a number of the world's largest remote gaming - gambling via the internet, mobile phone or television - operators.
It acts as a single voice for the industry on any issues that are of importance to the companies, legislators and regulators working within the sector.
