Detroit casino has "great new beginning"

2009-03-11 09:46:12

A casino in Detroit has described its most recent financial figures as representing a "great new beginning" for the venue.

Market share for the Greektown Casino-Hotel went up by almost one per cent from January to February of this year, the business said Tuesday.

Although it filed for bankruptcy nine months ago, positive year-over-year revenue for last month shows signs the company is taking a positive step, it announced in a statement.

"While we are a long way from being out of the woods, we are excited about the new momentum and are looking forward to continued progress," added Randall Fine, who is soon expected to take on the position of Greektown's chief executive officer.

He is also managing director of the Fine Point Group, which was chosen to steer the site round from its previous financial situation.

Greektown Casino-Hotel has over 2,600 slots as well as 80 tables.

It also houses 400 rooms for accommodation in addition to 29 suites and meeting space.
