California casino backs bartending championship contender

A California casino has announced it will be backing one of the contestants at this year's Legends of Bartending World Championships.

The Red Hawk Casino, which is situated in the Sacramento area of the state's northern region, has unveiled plans to back flair bartender Russell Brainard as he attempts to take the 2009 title in Las Vegas.

Mr Brainard will need to make four drinks in under three minutes at Luxor's LAX Nightclub in Nevada to impress the judges and, if chosen, will need to beat at least 75 other international entrants.

Peter Fordham, general manager of the Red Hawk Casino, said the bartender had already proved a hit at the venue and it was hoped he would emerged victorious at the 11th annual event.

"We are thrilled that his extraordinary talent will be showcased in this global competition. We wish him all the best as he pursues this incredible opportunity," he added.

The Red Hawk Casino recently became easier for local tourists to visit thanks to the completion of the new highway 50 interchange.
