A casino in Macau has won an international award for its interior design, beating properties in France, the UK and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The StarWorld Hotel and Casino, which opened in 2006, was awarded Best Casino Interior Design at the 2009 International Gaming Awards.
"I was quite happy to open the envelope during the award gala dinner night at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London and to see that this year StarWorld was the winner," said Paulo Azevedo, founder and publisher of Macau Business Magazine.
He added that the casino was judged by a 23-member panel - including himself - and the casino's factors of innovative style, originality and "customer wow factor".
Other facilities nominated for the awards were the UK's Opera House and Isle Capri venues, as well as Casino Monte Carlo in France, The Palazzo in the US and the Shangri-La Storm in Russia.
The StarWorld Hotel and Casino is the tallest building of its type in Macau.
