Pittsburgh casino 'will create 800 jobs'

2009-02-16 16:20:06

Up to 800 new members of staff will be hired under plans for a new casino in Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.

A career fair is expected to showcase the range of jobs on offer at the Pittsburgh Rivers Casino in March, including positions in the fields of finance and food service.

Jobs are expected to be filled early in the summer, several weeks ahead of the casino's official opening date in August, the news source reported.

"From my understanding, casinos are organisations where a person can get a foot in the door and really build a career there," said workforce development specialist Randy Lheru, who is planning to contact some 900 people on his database to see if they are interested in a job at the facility.

Located on Pittsburgh's north shore, the $780 million facility overlooks the Ohio river and is set to feature a total of five restaurants.
