The Commerce Casino in Los Angeles is doing well, thanks in part to the efforts of tournament manager Matt Savage.
This is the suggestion of Roy 'The Oracle' Winston, a World Poker Tour (WPT) titlist, who wrote in his Card Player that Mr Savage has done a lot to boost the LA Poker Classic, which is currently taking place at the venue.
Attending the event, Winston commented: "The Commerce is alive and well - and you couldn't tell there are economic woes from the looks of things here.
"Matt Savage has really energized the tournament series."
The LA Poker Classic is bigger than ever this year, with more games on offer and several $10,000 championship tournaments.
But the competitions also have a better structure, according to Winston, and attendance figures are "strong" so far.
The main event of the series, a $10,000 WPT tournament, gets underway on Saturday February 21st.
