Casinos in Atlantic City will not be as busy this New Year's Eve as they have been previously due to the effects of the economic downturn, it has been reported.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, the night is traditionally the busiest of the year for US casinos, but it will not be that way in 2008 as the recession continues to take its toll.
Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort is one venue which will not be hosting any New Year's Eve festivities for the public at all, while Trump Entertainment's resorts also appear to be cutting back.
"It's a little lighter on New Year's Eve this year," commented Mark Juliano, spokesman for the company. "But having said that, we're not falling off the cliff. It's still going to be busy."
In the UK, a casino is set to play a major part of the celebrations at Mercure Southgate Hotel in Southernhay, the Express & Echo reported.
