Winston to launch Guppy Poker at the Borgata

2008-12-09 14:35:20

Roy Winston will launch his new project, Guppy Poker, at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa next month.

Writing in his Card Player blog, Winston suggested that the purpose of the project was to bring ordinary people to the game and teach them that poker can be an enjoyable activity no matter how low the stakes are.

Guppy Poker will consist of lessons for those who are interested in the game but have relatively little experience, with women and couples the chief target audience in order to help make the poker room a less intimidating place for females.

The Oracle stated that the plan is to "familiarize new players with the rules and mechanics of the game and provide a little basic strategy".

"As part of each school we will have a small tournament as well," he added.

Winston did not reveal the exact date when Guppy Poker will begin, but it is possible it may take place around the Borgata Winter Open, a competition that he has claimed he will not be missing in 2009.
