'Heavy traffic expected' for casino opening

2008-11-06 16:01:36

Heavy traffic is expected in King County, Washington tonight (November 6th) as up to 30,000 people are expected to attend the grand opening of the Snoqualmie Casino this weekend.

The $375 million facility is expected to open tonight, causing exits and surface roads off the I-90 to be backed up between North Bend and Snoqualmie, the Seattle Times reports.

Earlier this week, the newspaper reported that the casino is set to become the largest employer in the Snoqualmie Valley region, with 1,300 new staff members. It offers a number of benefits to its staff, including full medical coverage, competitive wages and free meals.

Located on a 56-acre property on Snoqualmie tribal land - a 30-minute drive from downtown Seattle - the 170,000-square-foot casino features a total of 1,700 electronic slot machines, 50 table games and eight poker tables, as well as five restaurants.

Opening events this weekend include a performance by pop and country music singer Jessica Simpson on November 7th, while country music star Wynonna Judd is set to play at the venue on November 26th.
