Casino is a "jewel in the crown of the community"

2008-10-31 16:00:22

A casino set to open in 2009 in Arizona is tipped to be "another jewel in the crown of the community", the president of Gila River Casinos.

Dale Enos told the Arizona Republic that the area's payroll will be boosted by $15 million - $20 million counting tips - thanks to the 750 new jobs the Wild Horse Pass Casino & Hotel will bring to the area.

Earlier this week, a topping-off celebration was held at the casino construction site. When the final beam was put in place on the casino hotel's tenth floor, a tribal member of the Gila River Indian Community offered a blessing for the site.

An American flag and a Gila River Indian Community tribal flag were also hoisted to the tenth floor as part of the celebrations.

The facility is set to open late next year. A formal groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Wild Horse Pass Casino in November 2007 and construction on the site has been underway since December last year.
