AC casino revenues up in August

2008-09-11 12:48:07

The latest statistics from Atlantic City (AC) have revealed that the New Jersey gaming destination's casinos experienced increased revenue streams in August, it has been reported.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, there was a 0.7 per cent rise last month on the corresponding period from 2007, with the region's 11 gambling venues taking $468.3 million in total.

Table games were the area where the gains took place, with an increase of 2.3 per cent in this sector, while earnings from slot machines remained steady.

However, the increase is not necessarily a sign that AC is to recover from its recent revenue slide, with the calendar having a big impact, a Harrah's Entertainment spokesman suggested.

"It's a little misleading. It's more a function of incremental days than true growth year over year," remarked Carlos Tolosa, the gaming giant's eastern division president.

Harrah's operates Bally's Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City and Harrah's Atlantic City, as well as the Atlantic City Country Club.
