MotorCity unveils "cutting edge" casino

2008-09-10 14:11:15

The MotorCity Casino in Detroit unveiled its new entertainment area this week, with chief executive Gregg Solomon claiming it to be "more cutting edge than the standard fare".

It took three years and $300 million to build the one million sq ft complex and Mr Solomon suggested to the Detroit Free Press he was delighted with the finished product.

"We believe we are pushing the envelope in providing edgy entertainment," he remarked, boasting that is up there with the House of Blues in Las Vegas as far as quality acoustics are concerned.

The venue has already drawn compliments from some of the visitors, including 72-year-old Marlene Toth.

"I absolutely love it," the Wynadotte resident commented as she queued up to spend her $60 casino winnings in restaurant Flames.

In other casino news, the BBC has reported that the £90 million ($180 million) casino project planned for Birmingham's NEC will be called Resorts World at the NEC.
