Grand Biloxi Casino reopens

2008-09-04 13:31:22

The Grand Biloxi Casino, Hotel & Spa in Louisiana has announced that it is yet again open for business following a weekend of disturbance from Hurricane Gustav.

Most of the gaming resorts in the region were forced to close their doors in light of the storm, but yesterday the Grand Biloxi received the go-ahead to restart its operation, following approval from local officials.

The public were allowed back into the casino from 14:00 local time. All of the Harrah's Entertainment-owned facility is now open, with the exception of the golf course, which will be ready from Friday morning.

In total, the Grand Biloxi was closed for just three days, although downtime may have proved costly due to the resort being unable to cash in on the traditionally popular Labor Day weekend.

The Gulf Coast Poker Championship, which was due to get underway at the nearby Beau Rivage casino today, was cancelled due to the storm.
