Crown Casino has announced that its revenues are up on a year-by-year basis with an annual normalised net profit of $370.1 million (£185.5 million).

The casino operator recorded an overall increase of four per cent on last year’s figures noting that the growth in the VIP commission program play has also been strong, reports the Australian News.

Crown sai that it had seen a 6.4 per cent increase in its yearly earnings before tax, interest and depreciation at its Crown Melbourne venue.

Perth’s Burswood casino saw an even larger increase of 12.6 per cent which the chief executive of the firm stated "further cemented" its domination of the sector in the country.

The company said: “Recent trading for the Australian casino businesses has been satisfactory, with total revenue (excluding VIP commission-based play) to August 14th up four per cent on last year.”

Crown Casino in Melbourne is the host of the Australian Poker Championship - more commonly known as the Aussie Millions - a competition which has a prize pool in the region of $7 million.
