MGM Grand visit 'top of Cotto's priorities'

2008-07-21 16:07:00

Going to the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas was the first thing on Miguel Cotto's mind when he landed in the Nevada city earlier today, it has been suggested.

Fight News reports that the Puerto Rican WBA welterweight titlist planned to head to the gambling resort immediately.

Cotto is fighting at the MGM Grand for the fifth time in his career on Saturday night when he takes on Antonio Margarito, who is making his debut at the venue.

The 27-year-old last fought there in 2004, when he defeated Lovemore N'dou on points.

His other three contests at the resort were all won inside the distance, against Justin Juuko in 2002, Demetrio Ceballos in 2003 and Victoriano Sosa in 2004.

While Margarito has yet to appear at the MGM Grand, he has fought at other Las Vegas sites, including the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Orleans Hotel & Casino and Bally's Las Vegas.
