Gamblers using CryptoLogic-powered casinos will now have the opportunity to play games featuring more Marvel comic book characters than ever before.
Billy Everett's Sub-Mariner, who made his debut in 1939, will be used in a new online slot in which he bids to save the lost city of Atlantis.
Sub-Mariner joins a stable of popular Marvel characters already used by CryptoLogic, including the Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Brian Hadfield, chief executive of the leading gaming platform provider, said his company realizes that the key to its success is to "give players a compelling experience with a game or character they know, or design a fresh take on a familiar concept".
Sub-Mariner was one of the first comic book superheroes and came out during the same era as the Human Torch and Captain America.
All three were developed by Timely Comics, which operated in the 1930s and 1940s before eventually turning into Marvel.
