The owner of the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut is hoping that quality poker services will prove to be a money-spinner.
In an interview with local newspaper the Day, Jeff Hartmann of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority claimed that "poker is a money maker", as long a casino puts in the effort to offer good facilities.
"We believe that if you run a clean, friendly room with dealers who deal good games, that you can make money there," he said.
Mohegan Sun is one of the largest gaming resorts in the world and recently launched an initiative to teach local residents how to be casino dealers, in order to expand the talent pool at its disposal.
Ashley Adams of Poker News reviewed the facilities at the Mohegan Sun back in January when cards enthusiasts at the venue were only able to play poker using computers.
He was critical of what was on offer, saying he missed having a dealer present and disliked the lack of real cards and poker chips.
