A company in Ohio is hoping it can get the support of 700,000 residents as it bids to build the first casino in the state.
Lakes Entertainment, which is the biggest shareholder in the World Poker Tour, announced this week that it believes it can get this many people to sign a petition in favour of a new resort by August 6th, the Business Courier of Cincinnati reports.
The company already owns five casinos in the US, including Red Hawk and Four Winds.
It is hoping to make this new project its sixth and is making the proposals in conjunction with MyOhioNow.com.
Should the resort manage to get the signatures and then the support of electorate at a ballot in November, Ohio will have a 200,000 sq ft casino, featuring as many as 5,000 slots.
It will take several years before the development comes into fruition, however, so citizens will have to wait at least a while longer until they can enjoy the 20-table poker room and 100 tables games.
