A man's belief that it is possible to take away the house edge at baccarat was one of the most entertaining aspects of Jeff Haney's recent trip to a casino.
The Las Vegas Sun gambling journalist called the discussion, which took place over a game of poker, his "favourite" piece of table talk from the visit.
There is no skill in playing baccarat, the most popular casino game in the world's richest gambling destination Macau.
Indeed, James Bond movie makers have been criticised in the past for failing to depict it as a game of luck.
A clearly amused Mr Haney commented: "[The speech] was delivered, no less, by a guy who was literally a card-carrying member of the Total Rewards Seven Stars club.
"Essentially, that means he probably lost a heck of a lot of money gambling at the Rio or one of its affiliated casinos."
Baccarat is nowhere near as popular in the west as it is in China, with other casino activities such as slots, roulette and blackjack all generating more revenue for gaming resorts.
