Students spend $1.2k on card dealer tutorials

Florida students are spending approximately $1,200 on learning how to become casino dealers, it has emerged.

A gambling school called the Casino Dealer's Academy instructs the apprentices over several weeks, teaching them how to master running games such as baccarat, pai gow and blackjack, the Miami Herald reports.

An instructor at the college Alina Barcelo claimed that "anyone" can become a dealer and that it offers "glamour" and a "good living". She also warned that it can be "hard work".

The gaming industry is becoming increasingly popular in Florida, where tribes like the Seminole Indians run successful operations such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa.

Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino is one example of how gambling resorts are becoming more lucrative.

The long-standing track has been accused of focusing heavily upon the casino side of its business in recent years in order to make more money.
