Higher stakes for Caesars Windsor

2008-06-16 15:51:59

In an attempt to lure Canada's high rollers to its gaming tables, Caesars Windsor has increased the maximum betting limit it offers to $50,000.

The Ontario gambling venue will now allow punters to wager $50,000 per dice roll in craps, as well as during blackjack under certain conditions, the Windsor Star reports.

According to the chief executive of the Harrah's Entertainment-owned resort Kevin Laforet, the move is designed to follow previous successes with high wager schemes in the US.

"It has worked in Las Vegas and it has worked in Atlantic City," he told the newspaper.

"When you put out those kinds of limits you attract the upper-level player. It reinforces that the Caesars brand is for your serious table game players."

No other casino in Canada offers bets as high as Caesars now does, with limits also raised on baccarat and roulette.

The gaming industry has been increasingly catering towards high rollers over the last few years, with the construction of luxury resorts such as The Palazzo in Las Vegas typical of the direction the casino industry appears to be taking.
