US casino operators need to work out how best to cater for gamblers in Macau, one industry insider has said.
Mark Yoseloff, chairman of slot machine and card reading manufacturer Shuffle Master, suggested to the AFP that if the gaming companies want to continue to be as successful as they have been in the Chinese resort, they need to get a better idea of what will appeal to punters in the region.
"It is very important we gain a better understanding of Asian gamblers, or more particularly Chinese gamblers," he commented.
Mr Yoseloff previously told Reuters that he was glad his company made more than just slot machines because that sector of the gaming market - which is particularly popular in the US - has failed to adequately take off in Macau.
Baccarat is by far the most lucrative game in Asian casinos and some facilities are reportedly getting rid of slots in order to fit in more tables for James Bond's favourite gambling pastime.
"If we were only in the slot machine business, I'd be concerned," Mr Yoseloff said.
