The MGM Grand's Garden Arena in Las Vegas was the site of UFC 84 on Saturday night.
Continuing its long association with combat sports, the MGM Mirage-owned resort hosted a packed card, which was topped by BJ Penn's lightweight title defence against former champion Sean Sherk.
Penn stopped Sherk in the third round in an extremely important mixed-martial arts contest, which confirms Penn's position at the top of his weight division.
UFC legend Tito Ortiz, who has had eight of his fights in the Nevada casino capital, was also on the card, but was easily defeated on points by rising star Lyoto Machida.
The MGM Grand will next host a major sporting event in July when it provides the stage for WBA light-welterweight champion Miguel Cotto's hotly anticipated clash with Antonio Margarito.
Scheduled for the 26th of the month, many are expecting the contest to be one of the most exciting boxing matches of the year.
