Barkley pays Wynn $400k

2008-05-21 15:40:24

Charles Barkley is no longer in debt with the Wynn resort in Las Vegas, it has emerged.

Barkley owed the casino $400,000 after being given credit last year and was told a few days ago that he must pay off the debt or face going to court.

He claimed he would pay the Wynn off immediately and kept his promise, sending it the money in one go, the Associated Press reports.

"True to my word, I sent a $400,000 cashier's check overnight to Wynn Las Vegas, which they confirmed they received," said the former Philadelphia 76er.

Barkley is not quite off the legal hook yet, however.

Because the Wynn made a complaint, Barkley must pay ten per cent of the owed amount - $40,000 - to the district attorney's office.

The ex-Dream Team star is generally considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time and was named among the top 50 best by the NBA in 1996.
