New Carson City casino opens its doors

2008-05-08 16:22:43

The latest casino to be built in Nevada's capital Carson City has opened its doors.

Bodines, a $20 million development off South Carson Street, is owned by Mike Pegram, Rick Murdock and the Carano family, the Nevada Appeal newspaper reports.

The Caranos have plenty of experience in the casino industry as shareholders in Reno's Silver Legacy and Eldorado resorts - and one customer has claimed that will help Bodines in a big way.

Gail Black said she was "impressed" by the family's involvement, adding: "It's nice to know that a local is taking care of Carson as opposed to some group coming from anywhere else in the United States - not that we don't like our visitors."

The casino has a sportsbook and 250 slot machines spread over a 30,000 sq ft facility, which employs approximately 100 people.

Despite being the capital of Nevada, Carson City is significantly smaller than Las Vegas and has a population of just over 55,000.
