Caesars Indiana to host poker championship on Saturday

2008-04-29 16:23:09

The Caesars Indiana riverboat near Louisville, Kentucky is to host a special poker tournament on Saturday to coincide with one of America's most famous horse races.

Phil Hellmuth and Robert Williamson III will be on hand to help host the Kentucky Derby Poker Championship, the proceeds of which will go to charity.

"I'm really excited to be co-hosting this event with Robert Williamson III and to support such an important cause," Hellmuth commented.

The Health and Climate Foundation and the international Red Cross will be the beneficiaries of the evening, which will feature a $2,500 poker tournament.

Participants will compete for a chance to play in the World Series of Poker main event later this year.

Hellmuth and Williamson are two of the most respected names in poker, with both being among the best players in the world at Texas hold'em and Omaha respectively.

Williamson has won a World Series of Poker bracelet and come close to a second on many other occasions, while Hellmuth has more bracelets than anyone else with 11.
