Will a Buffalo casino follow in the Palazzo's footsteps?

2008-04-14 15:35:55

The Palazzo casino resort in Las Vegas might not be the only gaming venue to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certificate this year.

Sheldon Adelson's building received its award from the US Green Building Council (GBC) last week, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, and one architect believes his latest design could be about to get the same treatment.

Sosh Architects' Nory Hazaveh told the Buffalo News that the $330 million project he has helped plan may receive the accolade, claiming: "I'd like us to be the highest level we can be."

The Palazzo was open for three months before it was given its certificate and is now the largest building in the world to possess one, according to GBC representative Rick Federizzi.

Mr Federizzi said the building could be up to 50 per cent more efficient with regard to water consumption than other properties of the same size.
