2008-04-02 16:50:29

The Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth, Australia is to host its Sapphire Series Poker Challenge in June, it has been announced.

A prize fund of A$100,000 ($90,921) is estimated by the resort, which revealed its schedule on the PerthNow website.

One of the biggest casinos in the world when it was built in 1985, the Burswood is still one of the largest in the southern hemisphere and regularly holds poker events.

There will be nine satellite tournaments over the next couple of months, with poker players attempting to qualify for the main event for $60 to $125, as opposed to paying the $1,100 straight entry fee.

Burswood has a no-smoking policy and is also home to one of Perth's premier hotels, although five-star accommodation may not be the first thing on gamblers' minds.

The casino offers are huge variety of games from the likes of blackjack and roulette to Pai Gow and Casino War.
