Island Casino prepares for golf club launch

Michigan's Island Resort & Casino has moved one step closer to the opening of its Sweetgrass Golf Club by employing a new director for the venture, it has been reported.

Local David Douglas has been chosen to head up the new project, according to World Golf.com - and he claims he is delighted to be onboard.

"It's an honor to join Sweetgrass Golf Club and the Island Resort and I'm extremely excited about the opportunity in front of me," Mr Douglas told the publication.

"People in the community have been talking about this project for quite some time and the buzz continues to grow."

The Island claims to be the best casino in the Midwest, offering all manner of Las Vegas-style games.

As well as the golf club, which is scheduled to open this summer, the resort is hoping to pull in punters with a number of top entertainment acts, including The Beach Boys and Huey Lewis and the News.
