Shooting Star championship gets underway

2008-03-11 14:34:22

The $10,000 (£5,000) World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star championship started on Monday March 10th.

Following the first day's play in the Bay 101 Casino, San Jose, California, Brandon Cantu leads the chip count with 242,300. He is in front of Thanh Che (215,700) and Paul Britto (188,500), who lie in second and third places respectively.

Chanh Pham, with a count of 159,900, and Zack Felder, who is on 150,500, make up the top five positions, Card Player reports.

Last year's champion was Ted Forrest who was one of the players to have a bounty on his head. Those contestants beating players holding such a position are in for bonus cash prizes.

Other Players with bounties include the 2005 World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem and one of poker's most-famous names, Doyle Brunson. Beating either of these players at the table could result in a $5,000 prize for one lucky player.
