Packer rumoured to have inspected Trump casinos

2008-03-06 12:41:01

Donald Trump's casinos have been put under the microscope this week by none other than gaming mogul James Packer.

At least this is according to the Australian, which referred to Atlantic City Weekly's report on the billionaire's stay at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.

Sources told the publication that Australia's richest man had looked at several Trump properties - which may have included Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Marina and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino - along with a number of associates from the Macquarie Group.

The Borgata is not owned by Trump, instead being operated by Marina District Development - a firm in which MGM Mirage has a stake.

It is not clear whether Packer was viewing the casinos as competition or potential investment opportunities, but he was said not to have been impressed.

Packer inherited the Crown Casinos company from his father Kerry, who died in 2005.
