Casino Rama lands world title fight

2008-02-14 12:17:19

Ontario's Casino Rama has been named as the venue for next month's world title fight featuring local boxing hero Steve Molitor.

For the fourth time in a row The Canadian Kid will defend his IBF super bantamweight crown at the gaming complex in an event entitled Rumble at Rama IV.

Casino Rama is more than ten years old and is the largest to be linked with the First Nations tribe in Canada. It is operated in conjunction with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and Penn National Gaming.

The fight is likely to be held in the 5,000-seater entertainment centre, which has hosted shows from big stars such as David Copperfield, Art Garfunkel and Ringo Starr in the past.

Molitor, who is unbeaten in 26 fights as a professional, won his world title in November 2006 against Michael Hunter in England.

His opponent on April 5th will be number one contender Fernando Beltran Jr.
