Crown Macau 'taking $8 billion a month'

2008-01-31 12:30:19

The Crown Macau casino in China is raking in $8 billion every month in revenue from VIPs, it has been reported.

Just four months ago, the casino was taking approximately $2.1 billion a month from this sector, but a new deal with AMA International is now packing the place out with the ultra rich, according to news.com.au.

Tables promoted by AMA see $187 million bet every single day, on top of the $70 million being generated from other VIP tables.

Figures from UBS estimate that the Crown now has a 16 per cent share of Macau's gambling trade, up from seven per cent previously.

The casino is owned by James Packer, Kerry Packer's son and Australia's second richest man.

His company Crown Holdings operates not only the Macau casino, but also has shares in Aspinall Holdings, Gateway Casinos and Fontainebleau Equity Holdings.

A $5 billion Crown casino is set to be built in Las Vegas by 2012.
