Pair of jeans bags man $800,000 from casino

A man has won $800,000 from a casino slot machine after heading there to buy his girlfriend a pair of jeans.

Sammy Zabib had been nagged into heading back to one of the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's boutiques after he had forgotten to purchase a pair of trousers for his other half, according to the Associated Press.

Arriving before the shop opened, he spent an hour on a $4 slot machine before winning his big prize.

Mr Zabib, 42, said he had numerous arguments with his girlfriend over the $149 jeans but that all was forgiven after he won the money.

"She wasn't mad anymore. She's waiting for me at home now," he said, adding that he is not sure what he will spend his winnings on.

The $1.1 billion Borgata is aimed at high-rollers and is currently hosting the World Poker Tour's Winter Poker Open.
