Genting casino 'has more hotel rooms than any other'

2008-01-22 11:01:09

The Malaysian gambling resort Casino de Genting has 1,074 more hotel rooms than its nearest rival, a new list has shown.

Spread over six different hotels, Genting's flagship casino has 6,118 rooms in total, putting it a long way ahead of Las Vegas' MGM Grand, which has 5,044, according to the Casino City Times.

Las Vegas casinos dominate the top ten list of the world's largest casino hotels - taking up nine of the spaces. This may be surprising to some as Macau is now the world's premier gambling destination in terms of revenue.

The Luxor Hotel and Casino came third with 4,408 rooms, followed by the Venetian Resort-Hotel Casino, which has 4,027 rooms.

Half of the top ten was owned by MGM Mirage, which is the world's second largest casino operator behind Harrah's Entertainment, owner of ninth-placed Flamingo Las Vegas and tenth-placed Caesars Palace.
