Casinos 'safer than hospitals for heart attacks'

2008-01-07 10:20:32

The health facilities offered by gambling operations have received a ringing endorsement from a group of academics who have said someone suffering from a heart attack would be more likely to survive in a casino than they would in a hospital, according to a report.

According to Medical News Today, new research published by the New England Journal of Medicine, said that there is a 50 percent chance of survival for those having a heart attack at a casino or airport, compared to approximately 33 percent for those struck down in a US hospital.

One of the main reasons for the difference is that response to a medical emergency is likely to be quicker in a casino than it is in a hospital.

Health website Heart Health For Life said that those wanting to make sure they do not suffer from heart attacks would do well to learn from gambling and take steps to tip the odds in their favour.
