A plan to expand the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino in New York State has gotten underway this week, as the operation's owners announced building work would start later this month.
The Michigan Avenue-based facility, which opened in 2007, will almost double in size from 135 slot machines to 244, the Buffalo News reports.
Commenting on the size increase, which comes less than a year after the casino was set up, Seneca Gaming spokesman Philip J Pantano said: "It took off faster than we imagined and we're responding to that demand by going bigger."
There are three Seneca casinos in New York, which are all owned by the Seneca Nation of Indians.
Even with its expansion, Buffalo Creek is still vastly smaller in size than the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel, which is the largest non-Manhattan-based casino in New York.
The tribe recently reported that MSN.com called the Niagara casino one of the world's top ten best gambling destinations.
