The settlement of a dispute between the US and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has been chosen as the biggest piece of gambling news this year by a trade publication.
Casino Gambling Web (CGW) offered a list of the ten biggest pieces of gambling news, covering events from political and legal settlements to casino openings.
In second place was the UK's implementation of the 2005 gambling act, while the opening of Venetian Macau - the world's largest casino - was third.
Also mentioned were the approval of table games in West Virginia and the World Series of Poker events seeing a drop in the number of participants for the first time in 15 years.
The list was compiled by CGW's writers and editors, who conceded that several major stories were left out.
One perhaps glaring example would be the cheating and fraud allegations involving some of the internet's largest casino websites.
