2007-12-20 15:20:36

The grand opening of the Peppermill Resort Casino's $400 million expansion will take place today.

Situated in Reno, Nevada, the owners promise that the extension will create "a resort atmosphere unlike any other in the region".

The expansion includes the 62,000 sq ft Tuscany Ballroom and a 600-room hotel tower. The ballroom will be the largest convention space in northern Nevada.

State governor Jim Gibbons will be at the opening, along with senator Bill Raggio and Reno's mayor Bob Cashell.

Ellie Oppenheim, from the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors authority said: "The expansion is emblematic of the renaissance that is taking place throughout Reno-Tahoe and I congratulate the Peppermill for its leadership in making a great tourism and convention product even better."

Peppermill Casinos own several locations throughout Nevada's second largest city, including Sparks Western Village, Wendover Montego Bay and Henderson Rainbow Club.
